UB Quality Assurance and Online/Blended Courses

Greetings to all UB Moodle users. In order to ensure that all blended or fully online UB courses employ evidence-based best practices and are most effective at enhancing learning, we are in the process of adopting a Quality Assurance process using criteria developed from research into the effectiveness of online courses (Jaggars & Xu, 2013). The criteria have been incorporated into a scoring rubric, with each criteria rated on a 3 point scale as follows:

3 - Consistent evidence of standard

2 - Some evidence of standard

1 - Minimal evidence of standard

0 - No evidence of standard

At present, the criteria serve as guidelines for best practice, but instructors are encouraged to make use of the rubric to guide their blended and online instruction practices as they will serve as the framework for the University's Online and Blended Courses Quality Assurance audits.

Please contact me at edward.bethel@ub.edu.bs for any questions or concerns. I will gladly spend time with you going through the rubric and the proposed Quality Assurance process. Additionally we will be having training sessions related to this process in the near future.
